Texas Ranks #2 in States Where Millennials Are Moving

Texas ranked #2 on the national study with a net influx of nearly 34,000 millennials. Killeen, TX falls in line with this trend, with an average age of 31 years. The majority-millennial population in the Killeen area is indicative of a large and diverse pool of talent for businesses to draw from to bridge workforce gaps. Millennials also bring creative ideas that can advance companies to a new level.

SmartAsset used Census Bureau data to find out where are millennials moving. With 71 million millennials in America, they are expected to surpass the number of baby boomers in 2019. That makes millennials a coveted generation for cities looking to bolster their workforce and tax base.

To track millennials’ mobility, the site compared 2016 Census Bureau migration data for all 50 states and Washington, D.C. By comparing the number of persons between the ages of 20 and 34 who emigrated from each state to the number who immigrated, they were able to rank states by highest difference between the two numbers.
