Texas is 2018 Top State for Business in America

A recent CNBC News article ranked Texas #1 for America’s Top States for Business 2018. The article states that Texas has added more than 350,000 jobs in the past year, and that the energy sector is helping to turbocharge the $1.6 trillion Texas economy.
Killeen, TX, is an emerging player in the energy industry. Killeen-based Texas A&M University-Central Texas is currently conducting ground-breaking research at its Solar Research Lab. The school is also working to establish a research and development park with a focus on renewable energy.
The Greater Killeen area is located one hour north of Austin and home to Fort Hood, one of the largest military installations in the free world and the largest single-site employer in Texas. Fort Hood has demonstrated its commitment to renewable energy by investing in a 15-megawatt solar array at West Fort Hood and a 50-megawatt wind turbine project in West Texas. Through this project, renewables will provide Fort Hood’s energy for at least the next 30 years. The post has received several awards for their net-zero waste and energy saving programs.
In addition to its growing energy sector, Killeen has a diverse industry base ranging from health services to manufacturing. MGC Pure Chemicals America is currently under construction and their hydrogen peroxide product is used in semiconductor applications as cleaning agents, etchants, and polishing agents for the wafer-preparation process. Another manufacturer will begin a steel modular construction system using advance technology to build apartment units stronger, taller and faster than traditional construction material and development processes.
