Russ Nelson

Russ Nelson serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce and was elected Business Sector Chair in May 2026. He is also a Senior Account Executive with Lamar Advertising, where he has worked since 2001. In this role, Russ helps local, regional, and national businesses develop effective outdoor advertising strategies and incorporate them into broader marketing campaigns. His expertise includes business development, consultative sales, digital strategy, media buying, market research, and advertising sales.

Russ has a long history of service to the Chamber. Since 2015, he has served on the Welcome Council and Networking Committee, supporting new-member outreach, mentorship, networking programs, and ribbon-cutting events. He often serves as the emcee for the Chamber's Networking Mixers. His commitment was recognized when he was named the Chamber’s Welcome Council Member of the Year in 2016.

Before joining Lamar Advertising, Russ built an extensive career in radio broadcasting and management. He served as General Manager for KTEM-AM Radio and KLVT Radio and as Sales Manager for KPAN Radio, gaining experience in station operations, programming, sales management, commercial production, on-air hosting, and sports play-by-play.

Russ is also deeply involved in public and community service. He has served on the Board of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Temple since 2016, including serving as board president in 2019. Since 2020, he has represented the residents of Little River-Academy on the City Council and has been selected by his fellow council members to serve multiple terms as Mayor Pro Tem. He also led a community fundraising effort to repave the R.W. White Walking Trail.

As Little River-Academy’s representative on the Bell County Public Health District Board of Directors, Russ has served as vice chair and chair, supporting the district’s work to promote healthy communities, prevent disease, and protect public health.

Russ earned a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising from Texas Tech University and is a graduate of Leadership Killeen
