Leadership Killeen Graduation 2019

The journey of professional development begins with your “why”. During the 9-month Leadership Killeen program, class members learn about themselves and this amazing community. They are guided through the development of their personal mission statement (their why) and participate in unparalleled leadership training and networking opportunities.

On Wednesday, May 5th, the Talent Sector of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce was proud to graduate this year’s Leadership Killeen class at the Shilo Inn and Suites. Attendees came from all around the greater Killeen area. Graduates represented a large variety of businesses such as First National Bank Texas, Linnemann Realty, and Central Texas Barber College, to name a few. For a full class list, please see below.

We were honored to hear from the keynote speaker, CRDAMC’s Commander, COL David Gibson. During his speech, COL Gibson highlighted a key component of our Leadership Competencies: People First.

COL Gibson explained, “Every one of us is going to probably make good data-driven decisions, but we have to think about the implications on the people, impacts on the people, and the people component of it. If you do, I can ensure you that you’ll always be on a safe azimuth.”

Throughout the year, the class demonstrated their ability to do just that. The five groups completed five community projects that focused on helping organizations like John Valentine’s Operation Phantom Support, KISD’s HARP, and the KPD’s Homeless Outreach Team. The groups utilized their skills and resources to bring together organizations that had not worked together before into sustainable working partnerships.

The Leadership Killeen graduating Class of 2019 embodied the professionalism, teamwork, and compassion all great leaders have.
Thank you, Class of 2019! We wish you the best in all your future endeavors!
