Killeen Young Professionals Build Media Skills at “In the Spotlight” Workshop
Young professionals in Killeen recently stepped into the spotlight during the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce’s “In the Spotlight” event, gaining hands-on experience in media and communication skills essential for today’s professional landscape.
Designed as part of the Chamber’s ongoing professional development efforts, the workshop focused on helping participants build confidence on camera, deliver strong soundbites, and explore the growing world of podcasting.
Attendees had the opportunity to practice on-camera interviews and learn techniques for presenting themselves clearly and confidently. Baylee Bates, evening anchor at KCEN, led the session on media presence, sharing practical tips on body language, messaging, and how to communicate effectively in front of the camera.
Participants also gained insight into podcasting from Michelle Mimi Flores, vice president of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce. Her session covered the fundamentals of starting and growing a podcast, including how to craft compelling stories and connect with an audience.
The “In the Spotlight” event reflects the Chamber’s commitment to equipping young professionals with the tools they need to stand out and succeed. As communication continues to play a critical role across industries, opportunities like this help participants strengthen their skills, build confidence, and expand their professional impact.
