Mama Fu’s Asian House celebrated its grand opening on Nov. 17 with a ribbon-cutting sponsored by the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce. A special treat was the restaurant’s donation of $2,377 to the Army Fisher House on Fort Hood.
Killeen resident Tonja Orso did not know where to turn when she lost her job six months ago. A trip to a local grocery store pointed her in the right direction. Orso was one of 30 vendors who participated in the second annual Small Business Saturday at Workforce Solutions of Central Texas. The event started at 9 a.m. and continued until 1 p.m. behind the Workforce Solutions building at 300 Cheyenne Drive.

KILLEEN - Killeen is getting a new manufacturing plant. MGC Pure Chemicals America selected the city for the next site location and will service the semiconductor industry. The company is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company based in Tokyo, Japan. Killeen beat out several areas including, San Antonio, Bryan/College Station and Louisiana.
LEAGUE CITY, Texas - A local organization is being recognized throughout the state for their duties. Chambers throughout Texas came together last week for the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) Annual Excellence Awards. This event honors organizations for exceptional efforts in marketing, communications and media outreach.
Colorful new signs have been cropping up along U.S. Highway 190 in the Killeen area this week, including along the roadway in Harker Heights. The appearance of the Interstate 14 signs followed Saturday’s unveiling ceremony at Central Texas College. U.S. Reps. John Carter, R-Round Rock, and Roger Williams, R-Austin, unveiled the first I-14 signs for U.S. 190 between Copperas Cove and Belton.
