Greater Killeen Chamber Hosts 2026 State of the Region Luncheon

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Council welcomed business leaders, elected officials and community stakeholders on June 17, 2026, for its annual State of the Region Luncheon at the Courtyard by Marriott Killeen. The event provided an opportunity for community leaders to discuss the current state of the region and share their vision for the future of Killeen and Bell County.

The program featured presentations from Killeen Mayor Joseph Solomon and Bell County Judge David Blackburn, who addressed topics including population growth, infrastructure investments, public safety, economic development and long-term planning efforts across the region.

Mayor Solomon highlighted the City of Killeen’s ongoing investments in public safety, infrastructure improvements, parks and recreation, downtown revitalization and community engagement. He emphasized the importance of intentional planning and strategic investments to support the city’s continued growth and success.

“The future of Killeen is not something that happens to us. It is something we build. Every project, every investment, every conversation, every decision—they are all steps toward a stronger city,” Solomon said.

Judge Blackburn provided an overview of Bell County’s fiscal outlook, population growth and development trends. He discussed budget priorities, the importance of maintaining essential public services and the need to proactively address the opportunities and challenges that come with rapid growth.

“The question is not whether we’re going to grow. The question is how do we manage that growth,” Blackburn said.

Together, the presentations reinforced the importance of thoughtful planning, regional collaboration and continued investment in infrastructure and public services to support a growing population and a strong local economy.

The State of the Region Luncheon continues to be a key annual event for the Chamber, bringing together public officials, business leaders and community members for open conversation about the future of Killeen and Bell County. The program provides a valuable opportunity to hear updates directly from local leadership and gain insight into the issues shaping the region.
