Fire at the Killeen Chamber: A Letter From our President

"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members."
– Coretta Scott King

On Tuesday, December 6th, at approximately 6:45 pm, a fire was started just behind the Killeen Chamber that quickly spread to our historic building. Thankfully, some watchful citizens called in the growing fire and the Killeen Fire Department was able to be on the scene within minutes. Their quick actions and professionalism absolutely saved our building.

While the outside portion which faces the north courtyard has some charred bruises, the inside remains largely untouched. In fact, mail that was sitting on a desk in the most damaged office, was still in great condition and mailed the very next day! That is all thanks to the heroism and fast actions of our Fire Department.

To be safe, our staff are currently working remotely, but working we are! We are still trying to best determine what our next steps will be in the clean up process, but please know that we remain here for you.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with offers of assistance and advice. We appreciate you all and are looking forward to growing from this challenge, with you by our side. It is your caring and compassion that help remind us daily that Killeen is a great place!
