The Fort Hood Region Economic Development Foundation

The Fort Hood Region Economic Development Foundation (FHRED), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2017, is dedicated to promoting economic prosperity and opportunities throughout the Greater Killeen region.

The FHRED Foundation has led two major strategic initiatives: 14 Forward and FORGE CTX. These efforts have brought together regional leaders from business, education, and government to focus on workforce development, infrastructure growth, military-community alignment, and economic diversification.

Both initiatives reflect FHRED’s mission to drive long-term prosperity through collaboration and investment in Central Texas. As the community continues to grow and diversify, FHRED is adopting a forward-looking mission focused on strengthening workforce pipelines and catalyzing business investment.

FHRED’s updated priorities reflect current best practices in economic development: fostering resilient, innovation-driven local economies through targeted industry engagement and collaborative strategies. The organization is actively concentrating on expanding high-opportunity industry clusters in advanced manufacturing, logistics, cybersecurity, the defense sector, and life sciences. By employing data-driven recruitment, encouraging research collaboration, and strengthening regional partnerships, FHRED is positioning the Fort Hood region as a vibrant hub for talent, technology, and transformative investment.
